For the second straight year, the NFL team playing in its own stadium has won the Super Bowl. The Los Angeles Rams, playing in their home confines, SoFi Stadium, defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23–20 and won Super Bowl LVI.

Wide receiver Cooper Kupp put the Rams on his back and carried them to victory, scoring what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown, a 1-yard completion from Matthew Stafford with 1:25 to go. The Rams started in their own territory on that drive, and Kupp made a first down on fourth-and-1, gaining 7 yards running. He also caught a few passes on the winning drive. He finished the game with 8 catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns. He was named the Super Bowl MVP.

In 2021, Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing in their home, Raymond James Stadium, defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 31–9 and won Super Bowl LV. The win was the Buccaneers' first-ever Super Bowl title. Brady claimed his seventh (winning the other six with the New England Patriots).

The Rams labored for 49 years in Los Angeles, having several highly competitive seasons but not winning it all. They lost in the 2002 Super Bowl to the Patriots 20–17 and in the 1979 Super Bowl to the Pittsburgh Steelers 31–19. The Rams then left for St. Louis, in 1995. Four years later, the St. Louis Rams won the Super Bowl, defeating the Tennessee Titans 23–16. The franchise returned to L.A. in 2016. The Rams made the Super Bowl two years later but lost to Brady and the Patriots, 13–3.
