The first two sports to have events are curling and ski jumping; they begin on February 8. The Opening Ceremony takes place on February 9, and figure skating and freestyle skiing take place. The Games finish on February 25.
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will take place in PyeongChang. Ice sports will take place in Gangneung. Alpine speed events will take place in Jeongseon.
The mascot is Soohorang. "Soohoo" means protection in Korean. "Rang" comes from the middle letter of Horangi, which is the Korean word for tiger. Soohorang looks like a white tiger, which has long been considered Korea's guardian animal.
This will be South Korea's second time hosting an Olympics. The 1988 Summer Olympics were in Seoul.
