Presidential Tickets Set

Barack Obama (right), the Democratic candidate for the U.S. presidential election, and Republican candidate John McCain (left) have named their running mates for the general election campaign. They are Joe Biden (Democratic) and Sarah Palin (Republican). The Democratic National Convention took place in Denver in late August. The Republican National Convention is taking place this week in St. Paul and Minneapolis Convention.

Anne Frank Sent to Auschwitz
Anne Frank is one of the best-known names from the horrors of World War II, and her life story doesn't have a happy ending. Her courage in the face of terror and the honesty with which she writes in her famous diary make her a symbol of hope for young people everywhere.

On September 2, 1944, she was sent to the notorious concentration camp at Auschwitz, from which she never returned.
